    Kitty
So, I have this cat that is an absolute sweetheart and loves people and to curl up with anyone. I need to find a new home for her though. She doesnt seem to like other cats that much. Is there anyone out there who reads this, who wants a cat or knows someone who does, who doesnt own any other cats? This is Gnosis, the cat I got a few months ago. Any and all help is appreciated.

    Sad end to a day
So I'm driving down route 16 in Colchester and am almost home after a long boring night at work. I'm following another car when it happens. I see his break lights go on and the deer runs right in front of him. He misses it! Hoorah! However its companion right after him wasnt so lucky. The third of the group almost ran headlong into the side of his car.

I see sparks fly from under his car as the debre bounces off his undercarriage and as I slow to the seen I see her laying in the road. He pulls over and I follow suite to both make sure that the driver is OK and to do what I can for the poor deer. He's fine, and a good man he was was easily apparent. He wasnt happy that his hood was damaged slighty and he lost a headlight, but that wasnt his main concern. This older gentleman was truely sorry for ending the life of this poor doe.

I turned my car around to put my headlights on it to prevent anyone else from hitting her as she was still barely alive and got out to wave people to slow down. A few times I thought she might just be in shock. That was until one asshole barely moved over and did not head my warning waves to slow down. He ran over her head right in front of me and ended her suffering.

The state trooper showed up soon after to drag her to the side of the road. One last indignity to prevent her any more from other callous drivers. What a wonderful end to my day.

    Current Mood: morose

Follow up to Woodsy's post (re: Bookworm)
I started book 13 last night. I have a bunch more laying around on my bookshelf I really should get to at some point. I've even started buying book I already own but didn't know because I've never read them. Suck.

Though I'm quite pleased by this because it would have taken me years to have read the amount that I have so far in the first two months so far. I was never really much of a reader.

Edit: Also, I'm not including any rulebooks I've read. I don't think they really count.

    Huzzah
Ok, the chest tube is finally out. I kinda felt like a lawnmower when he yanked it out of my chest but my breathing is fine and I'm not in nearly as much pain as I was with the tube in. I may take some regular pain killers over the next few days but I'm retiring the oxycodone.

For now, I'm just going to relax a bit before I take care of some chores I havent been able to do the last few days. (Lynda, i hate your cat)

    Lung update
Mental note: even if it is too early to take your pain meds now, at least take them with you. When they run out of your system and the Dr.'s office is taking forever, every movement is agony.

Other than that, i have a referral for 9:15 AM Wednesday morning to get my lung checked out and then have my chest tube removed. I cant wait. It seriously is what is causing me all my pain. My lung capacity is up and my lungs sound good.

I want to take a moment to thank all the ladies who've helped me out in the last few days. My mother, Emily, and especially Larisa since she got me to the hospital in the first place. Thanks so much everyone who's helped me out, given me support and well wishes, or who've just stopped by so I'm not just in pain all by myself.

    Serious Ow
Alright, so I seriously hurt myself Friday but lets start from the begining.

I've been excited for weeks to go snowboarding with Larisa, Jae, Brian, Graham, Dima, etc. and Friday was the day. We got up extra early so we could go snowboarding at Ascuntney before we made it to the lodge that night. We met up there around noonish and got a small lesson from Dima. Larisa and him had been snowboarding all morning so they were all warmed up. I had the balance but the whole stopping when i wanted to thing was pretty terrible.

Around my 3-4 trip down the hill I had my really nasty spill. I hit really hard on my right side slamming my arm into my ribs. I hit hard enough to torc my body around still and spun another 360 degrees. My glasses came off and when i reached up to get them i couldnt. My ribs hurt way too bad. I layed there for another 5 minutes trying to work through the pain but it never subsided.

I managed to get my glasses and finish up the hill, albeit slowly. Once down i just walked into the skilodge and tried to find a comfy way to sit and just suck it up. I really hope I didnt seriously hurt myself after how long I'd been waiting to come up this weekend. Dima came in and checked on me and I let him know what happened and Larisa came in soon after that. She got me some ibprofin but that didnt really help. After about 30 minutes, the endorphins and adrenaline started wearing off and thats when I asked to see the first aid folks. They didnt do much but did say that I should go get a chest xray done at the hospital.

Larisa drove me there. They took me in and while hooked up to some monitors they saw that my oxygen levels were low which might mean a collapsed lung. I started getting really annoyed at myself for doing this and they hooked me up to an IV and Oxygen just in case. I had a few xrays and I managed to collapse my lung 20%. That explained why it really hurt to breathe.

They then put me mostly under, put a small hole in my side between my ribs, and inserted a chest tube. It's in about 12" so that it goes up to the top of my chest cavity as that is where any leaking air will go. Its sowed into my side. Needless to say, I had to stay in the hospital by myself all night. Larisa offered to stay but I didnt want to ruin her weekend too so I told her to go to the lodge and that I'd see everyone tomorrow.

The problem was they had to hook me up to a suction machine to keep any air that leaked out out of my chest. They didnt have a flutter valve (one way valve) they could attach to the tube to send me home so they had to keep me. The Dr. had to go to another hospital to pick me up one.

I slept like crap while there but all of the nurses were super nice and the hospital wasnt all that bad for hospital food. My next xray in the morning came back with my lung looking better because of the tube so they could send me home after hooking me up to the flutter valve. Larisa came and got me around 3, got my percoset by 4, and we were back to the lodge around 6.

Spent the night there hanging out with folks (Erica, awesome food!) and taking it easy. My favorite thing was when the brute squad was formed to make sure that I had the recliner to sleep on. Woke up and was fed a breakfast of pills and then more yummy food from Erica.

The percoset made me sick when Graham drove me home so I managed 1.5 hours without it in my system in the car. That SUCKED. But he got me home and I'm really greatful. My mom, Emily, and Bob all visited me that night to do stuff for me (dinner, dishes) and just hang out.

Em is going to visit in a bit to take me to the Dr.'s to get another xray done and figure out when they want to take the tube out. Should come out either Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll keep folks up to date.

    Body mods update
I've realized that I shouldn't get pierced or tattooed until at least November 5th when larp season is over. I have something to do every weekend so it'd be better to wait. Whenever I go to get my tattoo touched up I'll get in touch with you Meg.

    Weekend and thoughts
I was happy to get out of the house and finally get to the King Richard's faire. I'm surprised its taken me this long to finally make a faire that close. Anyway, I got a number of things for characters at both Magestry and Fantasy Quest. I'm wearing the same outfit for both characters (well, my next character for Magestry). I got a red cowl with black trim from Moresca, a Bacchus wine stopper, a really nice boda (wineskin), and a super awesome set of boots from Sons of Sandlar. As the boots are tall boots and have a heel I'm going to try them horseback riding soon.

Pretty soon I'll be going and getting a number of piercings. I might want certain folks to come along. I'll call those folks when it happens.

Also, I need more ink. That'll be in a few months though. Same invite. I'd love for when those people go to get something themselves, but we'll see.
